Medical Director – Psychiatrist

The Medical Director performs professional psychiatric services involving the responsibility for the psychiatric, diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of clients within the Personal Recovery Oriented Services program and the NYSTART program. Emphasis of the work is on offering constructive therapeutic treatment to PROS clients, supervision of nurse practitioner, participation and consultation for the Integrated Care Committee as well as participation in the OMH incident review committee.

Specifically, in this role you will:

• Conduct individual psychotherapy, and drug therapy for PROS clients.
• Review and sign off on clinical documents, ensuring clinical quality and continuity throughout START service documentation. This will include review of START action plans, crisis plans (CSCPIP), CSE (Comprehensive Service Evaluations) and CET (Clinical Education Team) documents.
• Participate as a team member in weekly clinical and consultation meetings with other clinical staff concerning the diagnosis and treatment of clients.
• Conduct in-service training seminars for clinic and program staff regarding mental health related issues.
• Take part in clinical consultations with Nurse Practitioners and team members, clinical team trainings for internal and external stakeholders, and clinical support for the Resource Center.
• Maintain ongoing communication collateral providers involved with the program and individuals served.
• Responsible for the oversight and consultation of the nurse practitioner of the PROS program.
• Monitor assigned clients progress on a monthly and on an as needed basis.
• Ensure all records of individuals assigned are kept up to date (paper and digital).

We require:

• Graduation from an accredited Medical School and is licensed as a physician by the N.Y.S. Department of Education
• Minimum of 10 years clinical experience working with IDD/MI population
• Valid NPI number
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential
• Must be efficient, well organized, and have excellent communication skills
• Valid NYS Driver’s License and satisfy criteria to be a driver for FREE
