RNW offers uniform allowance, and annual continuing education hours and allowance. Access to reliable transportation to support satellite clinics required. Our Ophthalmic Medical Scribes follow the physician schedule and rotate to all Retina Northwest clinic locations.

The position of Ophthalmic Medical Scribe is Full-time and benefited (work location & hours vary by physician schedule), working Monday-Friday. Ophthalmic Medical Scribe Description:
Retina Northwest Ophthalmic Medical Scribes are responsible for working alongside our physicians utilizing clinical knowledge to enter patient information into an electronic health record (NextGen) and transcribe physician’s medical decision-making in real time. Medical Scribes assist in the care, treatment, and education of ophthalmology patients.

RNW Medical Scribes may cross train as ophthalmic technicians to learn rooming patients, obtaining medical history, prepping for injections, assisting with laser treatments, and performing OCT testing.

Education – High school diploma or equivalent required. (OSC) Ophthalmic Scribe Certification or the ability to gain certification within 6 months upon hire.

Experience – Six months Scribe experience in a medical or hospital setting, knowledge of ophthalmic terminology a plus, EHR templating, Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, sound decision making abilities, excellent team player, detail oriented, strong computer skills, excel in time management and multi-tasking; proficient and accurate keyboarding skills of 60 wpm. Successful candidates will possess both a calm demeanor and a positive attitude.

Experience:

  • Scribe: 1 year (Preferred)
  • WPM 65+: 1 year (Required)
  • Medical terminology: 1 year (Required)
