CNCEF Monthly Canvasser Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Communities for a New California Education Fund seeks individuals who want to work as paid door-to-door canvassers. The main role is to provide do-to-door education to working-class families in Merced, CA to work towards achieving an economy that ensures our families have their basic needs met, are safe from harm, and are valued. Teams will walk door-to-door the 3rd weekend out of every month ( 2 working days per month). Team members hired will be on the priority list for future projects and open positions within the organization.

DAILY ACTIVITIES

• Power building through one-on-one conversations with residents
• Reach daily goals set by the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work on Saturdays from 10:00am-3:00pm and 1:00 pm to 6pm, Sunday. ( 3rd weekend of the Month)
• Having your own transportation is mandatory. Canvassers with a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation will get reimbursed for mileage.
• Must attend a mandatory orientation and training on January 20th.
• Must phone bank or canvass on the correct date, time and location during designated times.
• Must be able to use a cellphone, laptop, zoom, web browser and mobile canvassing application.
• Must follow a script and provide accurate information to residents..
• Must have strong verbal communication skills as well as ability to connect with diverse people, always maintaining a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
• Be able to read a street map if going door to door.
• Canvassers must be prepared to work in all types of weather, complete light physical activities such as standing or walking for long periods of time and be able to carry up to 10 pounds.
• Strong commitment to social and racial justice
• Bilingual in Spanish, English, Punjabi, or Hmong (Preferred but not required)

$18/hour

January 2023-December 2023
