We are seeking a high performing and motivated people for a Fire Watch/Clean Up opening at our sawmill located outside of Thomasville, GA. This is an excellent opportunity for you to join our team and grow with us.

The majority of your time will be spent cleaning up in preparation for maintenance work to be performed in the area. This will include cleaning up wet and dry sawdust, saw chips, broken boards, wood bark, etc. To get your work done, you will be using shovels, a wheelbarrow and the job is very labor intensive and you will get very dirty. You will also have to periodically lift/move heavy objects (such as log pieces and boards) to shoulder height. In addition, you will also assist our night shift Maintenance crew by providing spark/fire watch during and after welding and cutting activities.

Do you have what it takes to work here? Working in a sawmill is not always easy and the successful candidates:

• Have recent experience working in a heavy manufacturing or similar environment performing work that can be physically demanding.
• Able to work a 5pm – 5am, Monday – Friday.
• Have a proven job history for staying at most jobs for a long period of time.
• Know that every person that works here is a very important part of our operation. When someone unexpectedly calls out, comes in late or leaves before the end of the work shift, this causes a hardship to all those that work around you. Thus, we place a high valve on overall work attendance.
• We expect you to THINK. If it looks dangerous, stop and let us talk about it. If you see a better way of doing something, tell us about it.
• This jobs requires A LOT of walking and physical activity! Picking up a six foot 4x4 board is not hard but picking up hundreds of boards continually during the shift is a workout. You will be on your feet, reaching for items, bending down to pick something up and generally moving around all day.
• Have recent experience working in a non-climate controlled environment. A lot of your work will be done outside the mill.
• A high school diploma or GED preferred but not required

• Pay rate of $15.55/hr. There is also a $1/hr. shift differential for all hours worked between 5pm and 5am.
• We hire from within for our machine level and other upper level jobs. More responsibility means more money for you!

Our mill is in Metcalfe, GA which is located 10 minutes south of Thomasville, GA (southwest GA, just north of Tallahassee, FL). Local candidates (Thomasville and surrounding areas) will only be considered for this position.
