Position Overview:

The main duties of the Welder/Asphalt Plant Mechanic position include performing a full range of repair and modification work on asphalt plants. This is a full-time position, requires travel with overtime through peak season, reports to the Division Manager, and has no supervisory responsibility.

Essential Duties and Functions:

• Be prompt and timely for all assigned shifts, schedules, and projects
• Perform a full range of repair and modification work on asphalt plants to include troubleshooting, fabricating, and equipment repairs.
• Perform safety and mechanical inspection of equipment.
• Working knowledge of equipment maintenance, repair, electrical systems, and metal fabrication.
• Performs preventative, predictive, and corrective equipment maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Requires technical competence and knowledge of electrical and electrical components.
• Fabricate structural products (i.e. fillet welding, perpendicular shear plates, penetration welds) without supervision
• Requires knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to maintain a safe work environment.

Position Requirements:

• Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen and drug test
• Consent to authorization of a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record request
• 2 years of experience in heavy highway construction, asphalt plants, or similar facilities.
• Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal
