Position Summary
Responsible for the transfer of all raw materials used in the production process and resulting finished goods, the cleaning, hook-up and start-up of auxiliary equipment such as blenders, grinders and hoppers to support material and color changes as well as a variety of quality and inspection duties relating to the production of molded and assembled products to insure quality standards are met and maintained as well as for product safety and the quality of goods produced.
Job Elements & Position Responsibilities
- Cleans and maintains all material system filters daily
- Cleans hoppers, grinders, blenders, regrind bins, colorant bins and material hoses for all material/color changes
- Responsible for the hook-up and set-up of auxiliary equipment
- Performs minor preventative maintenance on some auxiliary equipment
- Performs color changes on molding machines
- Fill all surge and colorant bins
- Pull, weigh and return colorant and material
- Monitor inventory of colorant, cartons, bags, pallets, tape and other supplies and supply production floor with additional supplies as needed
- Move production from the Molding floor to the Warehouse
- Make cartons and distribute to presses as well as maintain proper number of empty cartons at each press
- Empty trash and weigh scrap daily
- Analyze and resolve material related problems
- Grind rejected production on and off the production floor
- Complete necessary SAP and Mobisys transactions for all raw and finished materials
- Performs a variety of inspection duties at required intervals using gauges and a microscope to inspect parts for dimensions, color and appearance
- Performs periodic scanning of molded components to find various defects both on the production floor and off
- Completes documentation as required
- Identifies and isolates nonconforming production
- Assemble boxes and distribute
- Move boxes using a hand truck or pallet jack
Required Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Experience
- Experience working in a position with quality and inspection responsibility preferred
Skills
- Must be able to stand or walk 11 hours of the normal 12 hour shift
- Must have good mobility and must be able to routinely bend, stoop and lift loads of up to 35 lbs. from floor level to above waist and occasionally over the shoulder
- Must be able to work as a member of a team, have high energy level and be able to work well under pressure
- Must be able to hear warning signals and verbal alerts to avoid injury during manufacturing process
- Must be able to discern shades of color and color differences relating to component parts used in the manufacturing process
- Must have good visual acuity and the ability to detect visual changes in the plastic under a microscope in order to perform visual inspection duties
- Must be able to work effectively, communicate with others and be willing to work as a member of a team
- Must be able to read, write and speak English in order to communicate and understand relevant information relating to quality and production issues
- Must be able to follow instructions and work independently when needed
- Must be able to climb steps
- Must be able to use a hand truck or pallet jack
- Must possess basic PC skills
- Must be able to handle and manipulate small plastic pieces
- SAP experience preferred
- Must possess basic math skills
