Job description
The Montana State University (MSU) Office of Student Engagement provides and facilitates opportunities for MSU students to be active participants in the Bozeman community through a variety of programs, events, services, and activities. They act as the hub for students interested in connecting with their fellow Bobcats through student government, student organizations, programs and events, and community service. The goal of this project is to increase awareness of community resources for low-income Montana State University (MSU) students, as well as to increase rates of community volunteerism among students by strengthening relationships and collaboration capacity between MSU’s Office of Student Engagement and community resource centers and nonprofits within Gallatin County. Ultimately, this project will break the cycle of poverty by helping low-income students to access resources that will allow them to remain enrolled in their degree programs. It will also help to increase volunteer capacity for a number of anti-poverty organizations in the community. Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) serves as the intermediary for this project. MTCC is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. Every year we place cohorts of full-time, part-time, and summer AmeriCorps members with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in Montana. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state.
