We are motivated and searching for a North American Compliance Manager to be located at our Greater Ottawa, Canada Corporate office next to their Plant. Our product line is booming during the recession. You will be responsible for the movement of goods into and out of Canada and the USA, and advise and support Leadership. We are one A Multinational Global Manufacturing Leader, $450 Annually. Having been in business for generations, and still growing, we offer great job stability and excellent growth potential. This Compliance Manager reports directly to the Global Treasurer, has 2 direct reports, and will have contact with Senior Leadership at the corporate level.

Highly visible role in the most highly profitable plant and profitable Division as well.

We need a Compliance Manager:

- A hands-on self-starter with all the day-to-day N.A. Customs, Indirect Tax,

- Strong communication skills

- Somebody that has worked at or consulted with a manufacturing company

This is a Hybrid opportunity, but you must live/relocate within driving distance to the Ottawa, Canada Area to travel to the office as needed

Senior Compliance Manager Duties

Responsible for special projects as well as the movement of goods into and out of Canada and the USA. Leading and mentoring a team of 2.

· Responsible for Customs Compliance in North America. Research issues and communicate information to the appropriate teams and managers. Identifying problems or issues and working with consultants and internal resources to determine what should be done for compliance and risk avoidance, implement and communicate the solution and follow-up to determine if the solution is effective.

· Responsible for imports into and exports out of North America.

· Responsible for maintaining Free Trade Agreement certificate compliance, origin proof and providing authorization of which products qualify and which do not (USMCA, FTA with Chile, Colombia, Peru, Australia, etc.) for products importing and exporting from Canada and the USA.

· Responsible for VAT Taxes Canada and US Sales Taxes for AstenJohnson North America. Identifying problems or issues and working with those involved to determine a solution and follow-up to determine if the solution is effective.

· Responsible for negotiations with customs brokers

· Responsible for Government Audits on VAT Taxes

· Responsible for Government Audits and Inquiries regarding Customs – primarily Canada and US

· Responsible for auditing customs transactions and paperwork for compliance and accuracy of information. Identifying problems or issues and working with those involved to determine a solution and follow-up to determine if the solution is effective. Origin review, HS Code reviews.

· Responsible for coordination of AJ Site Security Program C-TPAT, working with the Tax Manager, Corporate Management and the manufacturing sites on the implementation and coordination of security programs. Create communication tools training programs for Site Leadership, employees and contractors.

· Review current operations and processes for best practice and cost containment or reduction. This is a constant process that needs to be done and become part of the culture.

· Back-up processing for team members when they are off.

· Responsible for annual department budgets and forecasts, policies and procedures
