POSITION SUMMARY

The Neurobehavioral Rehabilitation Coordinator functions as a clinical advisor to provide therapeutic and safe quality patient care, utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, to patients diagnosed with a Brain Injury in the inpatient setting. The position provides assistance and services to the brain injury program, patients and direct-care staff in the areas of behavioral assessment, planning, intervention, maintenance and generalization. The Coordinator will assist in teaching courses designed to maximize behavioral functioning of the patients and to augment other functional rehabilitation efforts. Participation in behavioral and functional metrics and analysis of program data related to inpatient outcome measures and staff performance is also a key role of this position


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA) required. Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) credential preferred. BLS required. Candidates currently enrolled in a Master's Program in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) may be considered.
  • Education: Graduate degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or equivalent specialty rehabilitation field preferred or enrollment in a relevant program required. NOTE: Craig Hospital WILL NOT provide a supervisor for graduate level candidates, supervision must be completed and supervisor provided via candidate's school program.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of experience in neurobehavioral rehabilitation and treatment of persons with acquired brain injury; additional experience in rehabilitation preferred. Prior leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities: Skilled in the ability to conceptualize and pragmatically apply behavior treatment plans, in coordination with multidisciplinary team members. Ability to determine time, place, and sequence of operations or action to be taken on the basis of analysis of data; executing determinations and/or reporting on events. Excellent organization and customer service skills. Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel. Advanced team-building, conflict resolution, and communication skills, both verbal and written required. Ability to determine or interpret work procedures for a group of workers, assigning specific duties to them, maintaining harmonious relations among them and promoting efficiency. Work collaboratively with other departments and physicians. Ability to use professional judgment to identify areas for improvement and participate in development of quality initiatives. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position. Proven analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to make formal presentation in front of large groups. Creative and able to be an "out of the box" thinker. Have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with Neurobehavioral Rehabilitation Supervisor to review all critical incident reports concerning behavioral incidents, teach neurobehavioral courses as necessary, present to hospital and outside vendors regarding the neurobehavioral program, and create content for the hospital related to Applied Behavioral Analysis and clinical needs.
  • Routinely work with nursing teams and nursing leadership to assess and allocate staff resources on a daily basis, based on patient needs. Coordinate Behavioral Attendant/Tech activities in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to facilitate achievement of overall program goals.
  • Coordinate functions of Neurobehavioral Rehabilitation Team (NRT) across the treatment day.
  • Organize Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) responsibilities, job tasks, neurobehavioral classes and co-treats with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide 5% direct supervision for all RBTs within the inpatient program.
  • Record, distribute and monitor effectiveness of all patients' interdisciplinary Behavioral Intervention Plans. Ensure communication to the Physician teams regarding the effectiveness of the plan and any suggested adjustments.
  • Complete neurobehavioral assessment of patients using appropriate established principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and evidenced based approaches to determine needs for intervention and to contribute to the development of treatment plans.
  • Creation and inclusion of Behavioral Intervention Plans in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Train clinical staff to implement behavior programs developed using established principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Conceptualize behavioral interventions for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and adapts the plan of treatment as needed in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Compile and analyze outcome data for patients within the program. Gather information and feedback regarding specific Behavioral Intervention Plans from staff working directly with the patient and ensure the feedback and data is delivered to teams appropriately.
  • Create operational definitions for patient individualized data collection systems.
  • Creation of RBT/BA mentor program to increase procedural integrity with Behavioral Intervention Plan.
  • Provide in-the-moment interventions and leadership to maintain patient and staff safety during escalated events using procedures as outlined by hospital policy and regulations.
  • Coordinate agendas for weekly Behavior Team Meetings.
  • Collaborate with clinical team during weekly rounds and case plans to ensure that content of day activity programs meet patient treatment needs.
