  • About This Opportunity
Responsibilities:
The role of this position is to support the Business Development team and 7-Ventures Portfolio Manager, in driving incremental revenue opportunities for 7-Eleven. Main responsibilities include: conducting market research, evaluating pipeline, conducting diligence and investment process for new and existing Portfolio companies, providing strategic analysis to support and grow our BD pipeline and 7V portfolio, drafting executive level overview presentations, and building positive and trustful working relationships with functional departments i.e. Merchandising, Operations, Digital, Delivery, and Marketing to assist 7-Ventures’ portfolio brands. The role provides cross-functional exposure to many business units within 7-Eleven as well as access to the start-up and investment ecosystems.

Job Description:
  • Perform category or industry research to identify pipeline opportunities in CPG, Tech, ESG using IRI, 7E Internal data systems, CB Insights, and other research databases and tools.
  • Evaluate and manage pipeline of emerging brands and companies for testing / investing: participate in screening calls, meet with early-stage companies, manage pipeline tracker and cross-functional feedback meetings, conduct due diligence and build investment memos.
  • Prepare quarterly snapshots to 7-Ventures Officers and Board members sharing portfolio return, investment updates, and pipeline opportunities.
  • Build a network in the CPG, Tech, and ESG community by researching companies, trends, investors, incubators, and fostering new relationships with existing networks developed by the team
  • Serve as an internal advocate that accelerates portfolio companies in 7-Eleven stores and creates buy-in across the 7-Eleven store support center, Franchisee-based and corporate operations, unlocking assistance, value and synergies where applicable
  • Support Portfolio company with expansion opportunities and continuous improvement of our strategic suite of services such as international expansion strategy, P&L management, forecasting, leveraging 7E data assets, and fundraising.
  • Conduct data analysis using Power BI and Excel reporting and verification of portfolio companies’ sales for tests, regional and national launches
  • Assist 7V Operating Manager by attending weekly, monthly, and quarterly calls and ensuring the portfolio needs and adhoc requests are being met by the team; Ensure we are on track with executing our Services Agreement.
  • Help support adhoc Business Development team initiatives such as new pilot launches, new product launches, data reporting, sampling events
  • Flexible and willing to support team in ad-hoc projects and complete requested activities on-time and independently once tasks are discussed and aligned upon

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (MBA preferred)
Relevant 7E Experience: Merchandising, Finance, M&A, Business Development, Partnerships, Strategic Planning
External Experience: Investing, Consulting, 2 – 3 years in Retail and CPG industry, Tech / ESG industry, IRI or Nielsen experience a plus

Ideal candidate would have:
Strong communication and organizational skills, strong analytical skills, ability to synthesize large data into meaningful insights and recommendations, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and retail / CPG / finance experience. Proficient in Microsoft Suite and PowerBI.
