General Description of the Role:
The North American Materials Planning Director directs and oversees the material planning, material call off, inventory and availability to meet production requirements plan (internal & external) as well as procurement policies in cluster North region (Canada, United States, Mexico and Jamaica). In addition, She / He is responsible to implement and ensure the process and system for South America material planners.
Key Responsibilities and Activities:
- Lead Manage a team of 6 direct reports (Material Planners, Liquid Planners and Master Data) and extended team of 13 people, to conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and feedback on professional development.
- Oversee detailed material planning activities for Manufacturing sites (internal and external).
- To communicate proactively any constraints to meet the S&OP plans and to work on finding alternatives to meet the unconstraint demand.
- To lead, coach and support his/her team (Material Planners). To oversee teams duties including Inventory & Availability, Material Planning, MRP, Master Data, Performance management and so on.
- To operationally execute material plans and forecast, helps on inventory policies on materials (both in vendors and in house), deployment and import planning as well as S&OP Supply, Plan Alignment and S&OP Executive meetings (if required) in cluster North (ARG, BRA) and/or any Alignment meeting in the region as may be required.
- To provide visibility for any regional trade off on materials for a decision making leveraging on S&OE and S&OP process.
- Leverage on S&OE and S&OP process to drive actions on non-performing KPI.
- Ensure key issues and financial impacts are clearly communicated to all stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Procurement leads in the Cluster on integration points and escalation when required.
- Monitor and track performance on Material Inventory levels, Inventory Healthiness, Availability by identifying risk and opportunities and action to improve performance and adherence.
- Analyze monthly & weekly reporting and data on Inventory, Service from suppliers (OTIF) and SLOBs.
- Support Supply Response Team on PSA performance improvement regarding material root cause.
- Assume full operational ownership of the Master Data Management for Materials (MDM) function within the region.
- Responsible for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of how SKUs are requested, created and maintained.
- Foster the community of MDM Key Users to share knowledge, best practice, improvement opportunities and most importantly ensuring the absolute highest integrity of SKU master data.
- To provide process, system and performance management training and coaching to the Americas Material Planning team.
- To work hand in hand with global team to identify opportunities to improve capabilities, efficiency and effectiveness on material planning and MRP.
- To analyze performance vs targets, related to service level on suppliers, PSA (material root cause) and inventory levels to ensure a proper risk assessment and corrective actions when necessary.
- In conjunction with the Global SP team and Finance partners, construct an annual phased inventory plan (to include targets and forecasts) with the objective of improving inventory turns and Days Cover.
- To perform risk assessment based on service level, sourcing strategy and other parameters to define corrective actions when required (vendor service level improvement, dual sourcing request and so on).
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of proven Materials Management, Supply Planning, S&OP, Supply Chain Planning.
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree or equivalent (preferred concentration in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business Management/Sciences)
- Must have a deep knowledge and experience in design and set-up of Planning applications preferred SAP-ECC (MRP focus) and SAP APO or SAP IBP.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP or similar designation is highly desirable
- Strong background and experience in Supply Planning, Material Planning, MRP, Inventory, Production Planning, advanced planning analytics.
- Fluency of English is a must, Spanish capabilities a plus.
- Strong coaching & training ability on process and system solutions.
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks based on demand despite changes in work scope or focus.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
