POSITION SUMMARY:

Plans, evaluates and administers physical therapy services and care to patients upon physician referral multiple therapy settings which include inpatient and outpatient service lines, potentially within the same day. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives as well as Health System initiatives. Coordinates family involvement in assessment and treatment of the patient.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Participates in educational programs on an ongoing basis and completes mandatory CEUs as required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Current license from the State of Illinois per department policy. An applicant for employment as an occupational therapist must present acceptable evidence of licensure or authorization to test at the time of employment. An applicant who fails to provide this documentation will not be hired. A new employee will not be allowed to work as an occupational therapist until evidence of licensure eligibility is provided. CPR certification required.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Successful completion of annual clinical, age, and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a caring, considerate and concerned manner. Willingness to accept responsibility. Ability to direct technical and assistant staff and organize work assignments in multiple therapy settings which includes inpatient and outpatient service lines. Leadership skills essential to the position. Must be skilled in a broad range of modalities with a clear understanding of indications and contraindicating of each. Familiar with the indications and use of equipment. Guides, teaches, and supervises students.
