Our agency is growing and we are adding an Occupational Therapist to our team. Our OT will perform evaluations, establish appropriate goals, formulate treatment plans, provide treatment interventions, maintain comprehensive documentation, and assist with coordination of care within the scope of practice of occupational therapy for adults with disabilities.


JOB SUMMARY:
To provide optimal occupational therapy care to clients. Observation and evaluation, treating and training, direct therapy procedures and overall development of an individualized therapy program under the direction of the physician. Demonstrates good problem-solving skills and ability to adapt without difficulty.


QUALIFICATIONS
: Must be a graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association, or is eligible by the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association, or has two years of an appropriate experience as an occupational therapist and has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency examination conducted, approved, or sponsored by the U.S. Public Health Service except that such a determination proficiency to no apply with respect to persons initially licensed as an occupational therapist after December 31, 1977.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Requires the ability to communicate effective, both verbally and in writing
  • Requires basic computer skills
  • Requires the ability to organize responsibilities and manage time wisely
  • Requires the ability to work effectively in a team setting

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in occupational therapy required
  • Experience working with adults with disabilities is preferred

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

  • Current and valid Nebraska State License in Occupational Therapy required

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching daily living skills
  • Developing perceptual motor skills and sensor integrative functioning.
  • Developing prevocational capabilities applying selected orthotic and prosthetic devices or selective adaptive equipment
  • Using specifically designed therapeutic medic and exercises to enhance functional performance
  • Administering and interpreting tests, such as manual muscle and range of motion
  • Adapting environments for the differently abled
  • Makes an initial evaluation visit to each patient to whom the physician orders
  • Participates in the plan of care and revises the plan of care
  • Assists the physician in evaluation of function.
  • Prepares clinical and progress notes relating to patients’ response to therapy
  • Evaluates the needs and responses to services furnished by the assistant to measure the patients’ programs in achieving the anticipated outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned.
