Dozer: GPS experience preferred
Position Summary: Operate Cat (size, i.e. D-6H, D-8N) dozer/tractor to perform work task (i.e. maintain dump areas, feed loader, excavate, finish slopes, pioneer work).
Essential Job Functions
Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches. Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment. Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks. Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way. Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut. Operates bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals. Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on tractor.
Haul Truck:
Position Summary: Safely and efficiently operates either a two or three axle off-highway truck equipped with dump body to transport earth materials (dirt, mud, rock, ore, etc.).
Essential Job Functions
Does a walk around safety and operational inspection, reporting any deficiencies according to company procedures. Receives load from loader, excavator, or shovel and transports materials along haul route to the dump area and dumps the load, then returns to get another load. Records number of loads hauled, and cycle time. Maintains radio contact with supervisor to receive instructions. Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs and tire chains.
Motor Grader:
Position Summary: Safely operate a motor grader to construct or maintain road surfaces within the design criteria specified.
Essential Job Functions
Operates equipment generally on uneven surfaces to maintain haul roads and assist in building new roads. Drives blade and moves levers to regulate height and angle of blade, lower scarifier that loosens packed soil to permit grading, and to tilt front wheels of grader when making sharp turns. Drives blade in successive passes over working areas usually observing reference stakes to level surface to specified grade. Feels levers and sound of engine to determine depth of cut. Operates equipment safely both forward and reverse directions in close quarters with other heavy equipment. May perform fine or rough grading. Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on equipment.
Excavator:
Position Summary: Operates hydraulic excavator/backhoe to load earth into trucks or into stockpiles. Excavation may be a mass excavation or a closely engineered trench for pipe placement.
Essential Job Functions
Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, turns steering wheel, and move throttles to operate equipment. Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and operates equipment forward to scope material into bucket. Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle to work site, and moves levers to dump material. Performs routine maintenance on equipment such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning. Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on equipment.
Tractor Pan/ Scraper:
Position Summary: Operates scraper to move, haul, and grade earth.
Essential Job Functions
1. Moves switches, levers, and pedals to control loading gate on bucket (scraper), to adjust depth of cut, to raise and close filled bucket for hauling, and to spread or dump earth.
2. Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.
3. Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
4. Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
5. Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on equipment.
