At Mid America Eye Center, we are an Ophthalmology practice in the Prairie Village, Kansas area. We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician, to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday, day shifts with No Weekends and No Holidays!

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Perform workups for the doctors and any necessary testing that is ordered.
- Documents workups and exams including, but not limited to history, physical exams, and treatment plans as provided verbally by the doctors.
- Dispense medications as directed by doctors.
- Assist in minor in-office surgeries.
- Return patient phone calls that do not require the physician to do so and perform phone triage.
- Reviews patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
- Taking patient history and testing required by the type of exam scheduled.
- Scribes, while the physician examines patients, entering data into electronic medical records or handwrites in a paper chart, oversee patient flow-ups.
- Able to take an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity.
- Able to perform lensometry, refractometry, applanation tonometry, basic muscle balance testing, assess pupils, assess the anterior chamber, confrontation visual fields, and gross external exam.
- Administer diagnostic tests.
- Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
- Assists with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent are obtained.
- Perform advanced ophthalmic procedures.
- Assists in the training of other ophthalmic assistants.
- Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree or Associate Degree in a related field is highly preferred.
- Two years of ophthalmic experience.
- Must complete the home study ophthalmic program within six months of employment.
- JCAHPO COA Certification is required within 18 months of employment.
- Prefer COT Certification.

- Must have proficient computer skills.
- Must be able to problem solve.
- Must have excellent communication skills, proper grammar, and writing capability.
- Must be team-oriented.
- Must be self-directed, highly motivated, able to multi-task, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time accurately and efficiently.
- Must have exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Must possess a caring, patient, and friendly attitude.
- Must have complete knowledge of all forms (paper & electronic) that are used in the practice.
- Must understand the anatomy & physiology of the eye.
- Must understand ophthalmic terminology, spelling, and pronunciation.
- Must understand CPT and ICD-10 codes for ophthalmic billing.
