Department: Warehouse Job Status: Hourly

Reports To: Warehouse Manager

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, some Saturdays as production dominates.


POSITION:

Inventory Pickers at the Prairie Farms- Shullsburg Creamery are motivated and highly organized individuals who are part of the Warehouse operations located in the Transportation Division. This entry-level position prefers someone with some previous warehouse experience, but we are willing to train the right individual. . As with all positions to include all food safety and quality requirements.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

Inventory Pickers are assigned routes and orders in the warehouse for customer order fulfillment. This person must be able to work both independently, as well as in a team environment. Attention to detail and accuracy is of the utmost importance. Inventory Pickers use a Scanning Program for tracking, so previous experience with warehouse type scanners is preferred. Individuals will also need to know how to use an electric hand jack, and forklift experience is a major plus (Storage racks are 3-deep push-back racking, not stationary racking.)

Inventory Pickers may also be cross-trained as a Warehouse Receiver as needed. This responsibility would include providing for food and safety quality of incoming product and deliveries, verifying quantity of product against the purchase order, checking for cleanliness and temperature of incoming trailers and recording appropriate date on trailer logs. Staging incoming product correctly for inventory purposes and getting the product to its correct warehouse slot and completing all paper is essential. Also coordinates with dispatch for transportation of product, awareness of floor and rack space to accommodate additional product. Housekeeping, sanitation and other tasks as deemed necessary.


SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Basic math skills and basic computer literacy is required for order movement and processing.
  • Ability to use a scanning program or experience with an equivalent inventory system.
  • Ability to learn and use an electronic hand jack and/or forklift.
  • Able to lift at least 20 lbs. or more consistently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to stand, walk and move freely throughout the entire shift (8-10 hours) on a concrete floor.
  • Ability to work extended hours if production demands it.
  • Shall have attended a Chemical Safety Training session within the past 12 months.
  • Shall have attended GMP, FSMA, Food Defense Awareness, and Allergen Training.
  • Shall meet all requirements of the SQF Program.
  • Shall comply with all GMP Requirements.
  • Shall comply with all requirements for Personal Protective Equipment as defined by appropriate plant procedures.
  • Shall comply with all Safety Rules and Policies


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic warehouse or storage experience preferred.
  • Work environment is in a 32-35-degree temperature range.
  • Excellent physical condition and coordination.
  • Must be a team player, with the ability to work productively independently.
  • Must be reliable, punctual and dependable in completing all tasks assigned.
  • Able to read, write, count accurately and communicate; high school diploma preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • Casual dress code. Temperature range fluctuates between an office environment of 72 degrees to predominately working in the warehouse at 34 degrees.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel; reach with hand and arms, and stoop, kneel or
    crouch. Minimum lift of up to 50 lbs.
