JOB SUMMARY:
The Orientation Facilitator is charged with successfully onboarding new professional drivers to the Company. Associates in this role directly contribute to and lead the orientation process at their assigned location. The primary objective of this position is to identify and execute methods that promote the company’s core value of Safety by way of classroom instruction and skill evaluation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead new hire orientation process at location to ensure completion of all phases
- Instruct, inform, train and test new driver candidates regarding company performance standards, policies, procedures; including defensive driving techniques
- Asses the progress and understanding of the driver candidates during orientation and tailor the training to match the learning style of the driver candidates in class
- Monitor, grade, and record driving skills of new driver candidates via road and backing tests
- Review performance of new hires; obtain feedback from affected personnel and incorporate feedback into evaluation of orientation effectiveness
- Recommend solutions that address the core needs of driver onboarding
- Make updates to current curricula as fleet performance dictates
- Make decisions and choices to help the company control costs and expenses
- Monitor recent fleet safety performance and make recommendations regarding training focus areas
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders as needed to develop and maintain a quality orientation process
- Assemble and distribute orientation materials and manage associated inventory
- Perform additional Safety duties, as needed (e.g., skills development; camera coaching; etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & KEY COMPETENCIES:
- High school degree or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Minimum three (3) years of driving experience
- Possession of a current and valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL)
- Possession of a qualified DOT physical
- Advanced knowledge of D.O.T. and FMCSA regulations
- Effective in a variety of formal presentation settings; one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, etc.
- Disciplined problem solver; capable of identifying root causes and recommending solutions
- Manages time effectively and efficiently at times with little to no supervision
- Demonstrated history and ability to develop strong peer relationships across various departments
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Prior experience facilitating classroom instruction, preferred
- Flexible work schedule including nights and weekends and up to 25% travel, as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $49,300.00 - $73,900.00 per year
