Our customer is a turn key vendor that supports OSP and ISP construction for Telecommunication efforts. They are a large General Contractor that supports the MD, DC, VA, NJ, and WV market with recent expansion to Vermont. The majority of their business is relative to the Cable TV industry and they support customers such as Comcast, Cox communications, and Crown Castle.
They are looking for a cable technician to support their OSP telecommunications construction efforts not limited to Commercial (Metro E and SMB) and Residential (Multiple Dwelling Units), SDU (Single Dwelling Unit) jobs.
These technicians will be aligned geographically and will be responsible for the hands on cable constructions for our customer in the Washington DC and Northern Virginia markets. These crews will be working out in the field with coax splicers and will be looked at as a lead fiber splicer out in the field. They will be managed and held to standards by the construction coordinators and the customers they support. The technician will need to have experience pulling, installing, and terminating fiber optic cables. They are expected to have experience using basic hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment (OTDR, Light Meters). They will be installing underground and aerial cables and will need to be able to read blueprints and take initiative out in the field.
Top Skills Details:
1. 1-5 Years of experience with Telecommunications OSP Construction fiber splicing and termination experience
2. Experience installing, testing (OTDR, Light Testing), troubleshooting
3. Experience with underground and/or aerial construction
4. Cat 5, Cat 6, Coax experience.
5. High Engagement and Communication Abilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- running, installing, and terminating fiber optic cables
- experience splicing fiber optic cables
- experience with OTDR testers and light meters
- They should understand basic color codes of coax cables
- have experience terminating and putting connectors on the ends
- performing basic testing to ensure connectivity and quality of the installation
- knowledge of conduit installation
