Job Description:The Packaging Buyer position manages the daily process of sourcing, procuring, expediting, and inventory management of designated packaging items as assigned. Position supports/advises other functional locations on strategic sourcing of packaging synergies and alignments through VA/VE methodology. Position assists in developing and coaching others regarding the packaging category. Position reports to the Packaging Engineer and is part of the Purchasing Department.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Seek out and evaluate new suppliers based on company needs
- Maintain and develop current Supplier relationships
- Seek out new products and their sources
- Serve as a company resource for others in the organization for current market trend information, product opportunities, and new packaging concepts and designs, for potential product development opportunities
- Analyze company systems, and complete physical inventory counts when needed, to determine product demand
- Analyze and generate PO’s for product, follow up and expedite as necessary
- Create new item #’s and integrate them into the Procurement system
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by leadership
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite including, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Knowledge of Purchasing/Procurement Systems preferred
- Must demonstrate problem solving skills, multi-tasking capabilities and flexibility
- Must possess great attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced working environment.
- Driven, motivated, self-starter
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in the packaging field
- 3-5 years’ experience in Purchasing required
- Packaging experience preferred
