GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Packer/Quality Inspector has a wide variety of responsibilities including inspect customer product, prepare product for packing, ensure proper packing materials are used and to pack product to specification for safe delivery back to the customer.

OBJECTIVES:

  • On Time Delivery
  • Goal of zero reject rate by customers
  • Safe delivery of customer product packed
  • Optimum use of packing materials – minimum waste
  • Continuous monitoring of packaging supplies- for on time ordering so there is no down time.
  • Incorporate the 5 S System: Sort. Set in Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Maintaining an ongoing awareness of changes to the corporate goals and the daily packing schedule.
  • Making sure, throughout the entire packing process, that all dealings with customers, fellow workers and visitors to the plant are conducted in the spirit of teamwork and respect.
  • Making sure the inspection criteria and an approved paint standard are used and pack standard are clear and understood prior to packing.
  • Following the packaging method as documented on the work instruction including wrap, layering and polybag.
  • Accurate count of customer pack. Label containers with job number, part number, PO number, customer, date packed and quantity.
  • Assisting others in the performance in their duties by providing guidance and training in accordance with the job
  • Setting questionable product aside for Quality MRB (Material Review Board) team to evaluate.
  • Signing off on the job Traveler and accurately documenting the number of parts.
  • Maintaining the work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Adhering to all safety rules and regulations anywhere on company property and in or about vehicles.

  • The Packer/Quality Inspector must be a good listener.
  • He/she must be effective in communicating concerns upward to the supervisor, other managers, and the president.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:

The Packer/Quality Inspector must be able to:

  • Stand on concrete for extended periods of time.
  • Lift and bend with proper lift techniques
  • Count accurately
  • Maintain a high energy level and productivity throughout the entire work shift.

EDUCATIONAL AND POSITION EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Has the ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal forms and has the math skills for this position

Experience as a team player would be helpful.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

  • Production & Assembly Occupations: 1 year (Preferred)
