Our client is looking for a long-term contract position for a firewall security engineer. This position will be with a large California State Agency. The Security Engineer will work on the security team and have direct responsibility managing Palo Alto firewalls. Responsibilities include: Administering, configuring complex network services such as BGP, security policies and profiles, Host-based Intrusion Prevention Systems (HIPS) and SSL Decryption on Palo Alto Network (PAN) appliances at an enterprise level. Administering, configuring templates, profiles on Palo Alto Networks Panorama. Familiarity with Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR and Prisma remote access. System performance and troubleshooting Software upgrades and patches for emergency patch Requirements and Qualifications to be eligible to access the job: Extensive technical know-how of security network devices (switches, antivirus, firewalls, cryptography, SIEM) and any other security networking hardware or software tools Minimum of five years" experience identifying threats and developing appropriate protection measures Knowledge of Palo Alto Firewall solutions and strong routing & switching experience is an added advantage. Knowledge of Palo Alto IPS, URL Filtering, Sandboxing and Prism Cloud Access is a plus. Reviewing system changes for security implications and recommending improvements Excellent hands-on experience and knowledge implementing, configuring, integrating, and supporting the network security with Palo Alto security solutions, including FireMon security tools. Industry certifications are also a plus (Examples: Palo Alto, CCNP, Security +, or CCSE) Good team player, Self-confident, motivated, and independent Excellent communication skills Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in information systems or Computer engineering/science Ability to remain calm while multi-tasking and working under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Attention to details and good problem-solving skills.
