Location: Williston, North Dakota
Summary of Work
Essential functions of this position (53-53-5990) include:
- Participate in developing a client treatment plan for providing an appropriate level and type of service.
- Provide and/or nurture parenting skills through demonstration and instruction.
- Meet with clients in their homes to assess parenting techniques, family interactions, household cleanliness and health hazards.
- Provide instruction and guidance in budget planning, money management and related skills that will maximize a family's resources.
- Provide instruction and guidance in proper nutrition through menu planning, food preparation techniques, planned grocery purchasing and identifying alternative food sources.
- Provide instruction and guidance in performing household tasks, personal care tasks and related basic hygiene needs.
- Provide information, instruction and guidance in utilizing community resources and participating in community activities to reduce isolation.
- Serve as an advocate for the client.
- Provide a role model through example and demonstration that will build and maintain an atmosphere conducive to effective learning.
- Provide transportation and supervise visits between parents and children in foster care.
- Provide transportation for foster children to school, counseling or other locations as needed by the agency.
- Perform required documentation and record keeping related to assigned cases.
- Participates as a team member on a child and family services team.
Individuals may be required to work beyond the core work hours of 7:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday. Because this position requires transportation of clients, a valid driver's license is required and the employee must have their own automobile and adequate insurance. Due to the vulnerability and needs of clients a criminal background check will be performed prior to employment.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years of work experience with children, adolescents or patients/clients in a direct service capacity or in an educational setting. One year of education in a human service-related field may substitute for one year of the work experience requirement. Preference will be given to those who have worked directly with children and/or families in an agency setting within the past three years.
