Kansas Children's Service League (KCSL) is ready to hire a full-time Parent & Child Educator for Early Head Start who is bilingual to join our nonprofit team in Garden City, KS. WORK SCHEDULE FOR OUR BILINGUAL PARENT & CHILD EDUCATION FOR EARLY HEAD START PROGRAM

This full-time Spanish-speaking Head Start educator position requires extensive local travel to homes, trainings, and recruitment events as well as providing transportation to group socialization and parent meetings.


YOUR ROLE ON OUR NONPROFIT TEAM

Our bilingual Parent & Child Educator for Early Head Start is essential to the success of the families we service. Much of your time is spent working hand-in-hand with children and their families as you promote continued parental involvement in their children's education. You schedule home visits, coordinate any required program services, and provide guidance, support, and services to aide families in functioning better both individually and within their family units. In all your functions, you are mindful to follow any Health and Family Services mandates, and you are committed to keeping open lines of communication both with families and your supervisor as well. You strive to keep families "in the know" when it comes to what services and resources are available to them.

On top of working directly with the families in your care, you continually promote education by conducting 2-hour socialization events twice per week and parent meetings 12 times per year. Further, utilizing ChildPlus.net and Frog Street Aim systems, you perform required data entry for any documentation related to your caseload, and accurately maintain all case files in accordance with governmental regulations and our organizational philosophies and policies. In order to effectively extend our reach, you provide support for our programming through recruitment of income- and age-eligible children as well as parent representatives for our policy council and parenting committees. Finally, you are all about being "hands-on" and an accessible resource, so you step up to help provide transportation for children and their families to and from medical appointments and provide help if/when emergencies arise. You are proud of the role you play on our team, and you take responsibility and initiative when it comes to the overall health and wellness of the children and families that utilize our services!


REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Can speak English and Spanish fluently
