Job description
Responsibilities and Duties of an ABA Therapist
- ABA Therapist assists the BCBA in providing instructional and behavior reduction programs initiated by the BCBA
- Assisting with the arrival and dismissal of assigned student(s)
- Assisting in collecting, reviewing, and preforming basic analysis of data under the direct supervision of the BCBA
- Assisting in the preparation of progress reports
- Assisting in the supervision of assigned student(s) in the home
- Contributing to the development of instructional and behavior reduction programs
- Reporting emergencies and injuries as per HOH policies and procedures
- Attending and participating in staff meetings and trainings
- Instruction, use of motivation systems, implementation of behavior support plans, use of electronic data collection, and management of data portal
- Multi-task and sustain attention for extended periods of time
- Demonstrate competency with implementing principles of applied behavior analysis in the presence of a variety of stakeholders (e.g., parents, administrators, visitors)
- React appropriately to crisis situations
- Demonstrate professionalism in the areas of physical appearance, language use, and receipt of feedback
- Provide physical support to students
- Obtain and maintain HWC certification
- Demonstrate oral and written proficiency with English
- Demonstrate proficiency with using a variety of computer systems (PC, Mac, iPad)
Physical Requirements of an ABA Therapist
The ABA Therapist position requires that the employee be physically able to handle the learner at all times, especially during times of non-compliance, which may include:
- Being able to physically handle the learner if they suddenly drop to the floor while holding the hand of the therapist
- If the child elopes suddenly, the therapist should be able to run after him/her and secure them from harm
- If the child shows any aggression to himself or others, the therapist should physically be capable of preventing injury
In addition, the ABA Therapist must be able to physically do the following:
- The therapist must be capable of bending and crouching down to assist the learner with toileting and self-help skills
- The therapist must be able to sit and play on the floor with the child
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $28.00 per hour
