Hours: Saturdays and Sundays 8:30am-1:30pm, Weekday hours flexible. 22-25 hours total per week.

We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. The Medical Receptionist is the face of our practice, the first person a patient sees at check-in and the last face a patient sees at check-out. They must work efficiently and cohesively with other staff in order to keep the patient flow smooth. To be successful as our Medical Receptionist, you should have a pleasant personality, as this is also a customer service role. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients and visitors in a friendly, warm, welcoming manner.
  • Making sure to keep patient/nurse/doctor flow going by checking patients in in a timely manner.
  • Scanning insurance cards and entering insurance information while deciphering between private insurance and Medicaid Managed Care plans.
  • Checking insurance eligibility for each patient and also determine if a “Primary Care Provider” change is needed for Medicaid Managed Care plans.
  • Taking copays and balances and applying them to patient accounts.
  • Scheduling different types of appointments including routine physicals, and follow up appointments in a timely manner.
  • Entering patient demographic information into our EMR system, and updating it each year.
  • Confirming phone calls for upcoming appointments.
  • Ensuring that both the front desk area and waiting room areas are picked up and neat at all times.
  • Assists Medical Secretary in transferring patients and chart prep
  • Works between both locations based on staffing need.

Skills

  • Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to comply with all HIPAA rules and regulations
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Must have basic computer skills, Medent experience is preferred
  • High school degree or equivalent
