Responsibilities:
  • Abstracts, analyzes, and evaluates technical data from incident reports, computerized data collection reports, etc.; codes information according to criteria, using established coding system.
  • Prepares QI data, presentations, generates reports, and assists in the preparation of department reporting needs. Accesses mainframe, SQL, Excel, Excel Macros, Word, PowerPoint, and other department specific databases to obtain and match data for utilization reports, outcome indicators, and credentialing purposes.
  • Performs office coordination and duties as required. Schedules, records minutes, and distributes materials for team meetings; maintains appointment schedule for transport leadership.
  • Assists in coordinating ordering departmental publications, supplies, travel reimbursements, and some accounting functions.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of QI data and hospital information (as protected by law).
Qualifications:
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree, preferred.
Skills:
  • Must complete Ambassador Program within first 12 months of employment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent typing (55 wpm), organizational, and planning skills.
  • Excellent understanding of computer software and ability to create and utilize relational data files; proficient in database and reporting (Excel, Word, SQL, reporting selection from various databases).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a wide variety of personnel.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively.
Experience:
  • 1 year of experience working within a database/reporting system, required.
  • Experience in a health care and/or quality improvement setting, desirable.
