South Mississippi Regional Center is a program of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health providing care and support for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. We are currently seeking individuals who are energetic and compassionate team players and motivators for direct support positions at all of our locations. Each position at South Mississippi Regional Center is an important and impactful role that provides our individuals with the appropriate level of care to meet their social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.

WORK LOCATION:
LONG BEACH/POPLARVILLE/WIGGINS/BILOXI/GAUTIER
PAY: $45 PER HOUR: UP TO 32 HOURS PER MONTH
SCHEDULE/SHIFTS: MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY - CAN VARY
CONTRACT TERM: JULY 1, 2023 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2024

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Make diagnoses of speech language and hearing disorders in adults with multiple or complex challenges. Administers and interprets results of various specialized tests for speech language disorders and hearing losses. Interprets physician’s findings and makes recommendations to the Interdisciplinary Team and works with them in carrying out such plans. Develops Individual Support Plans in accordance with the strengths and needs of the individuals within the unit. Documents and reports learner progress and programs. Assesses each individual using a Comprehensive Functional Assessment. Prepares Preliminary Enrollment Plans and Discharge Summaries. Prepares for and participate in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings. Plans and offers staff training.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology and/or Audiology from an accredited four year college or university; AND have an Active, unrestricted license to practice as SLP in MS; AND at least 5 years’ experience working as a SLP with individuals with IDD. Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred. Must have a Valid MS driver’s license, or license from a contiguous state, and have personal vehicle insurance in order to drive a State vehicle.

This is a contract position with the State of Mississippi that STARTS 7/1/23 and will end 6/30/24. State contracts can be renewed/reapplied for every year.
