Department Information


The Institute for Digital Arts and Humanities (IDAH) serves as the hub for digital arts and humanities on the Indiana University Bloomington campus. IDAH supports faculty, students, librarians, and technologists who engage with digital methods and tools by fostering networks among people and campus services with theoretical, disciplinary, and technical expertise.

Job Summary


IDAH seeks a Part-Time Student Research and Data Entry Specialist to assist faculty and graduate students kick-start their digital arts and humanities projects as part of IDAH's Summer Incubator.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists in discipline-specific (i.e., history, comparative literature, etc.) research approaches to data gathering and organization that may include proficiency in certain languages
  • Gathers and organizes arts and humanities research data
  • Enters data into structured formats such as spreadsheets or databases
  • Corrects data that has been programmatically manipulated
  • Enhances data using controlled vocabularies/terminologies

Qualifications


EDUCATION

Required

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University

SKILLS

Required

  • Experience with spreadsheet software (i.e., Google Sheets or Excel)
  • Ability to do online research, including using web-based forums, and to troubleshoot technical problems
  • Ability to work collaboratively and in a self-directed fashion
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred

  • Familiarity with spreadsheet formulas, macros, etc. in order to automate data manipulation
  • Experience with image editing in Photoshop or similar tools
  • Familiarity with versioning repositories such as GitHub
  • Familiarity with databases such as AirTable

Working Conditions / Demands


Available every weekday from July 17-28 between 9 am and 4 pm Eastern Daylight Savings.

We plan to fill 4-5 positions.

Work Location


Bloomington, Indiana

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

Advertised Salary


$18.00 per hour

Work Hours


20-30 hours each week.

This is a 2-week-long position, from July 17-28, 2023.

9 am to 4 pm Eastern Daylight Time, Monday-Friday in this 2-week period.
