Payroll and Accounting Coordinator
Job description
The Payroll and Accounting Coordinator will oversee and supervise the payroll functions of the firm, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll through third party vendor (Paylocity)
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll journal entries to accounting system
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing, workflow and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll accounting software, ERP systems and/or procedures, as appropriate
- Interacts with Human Resources department regarding related employee events and processes appropriately
- Interacts with Payables Coordinator on all employee reimbursements
- Manage eligibility of employees on all benefit plans and remits to payables for remittance of administrative fees
- Process and follow on all disability claims
- Report and administer workers compensation claims
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Proficient with payroll software, specifically Paylocity.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Able to maintain confidentiality (employee will have access to highly sensitive compensation data)
- Working knowledge of Unanet and/or Microsoft Dynamics
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
- At least three to five years of related experience required.
