We have a great opportunity for an experienced Payroll Specialist.
POSITION SUMMARY
This member of the HR team serves a critical role in accurately, consistently, and cheerfully delivering on-time payroll to the organization each week. JR Hobbs is a diverse, mostly remote workforce of hourly construction employees and professionals located around the Southeast. Process weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner for 225+ exempt and non-exempt employees. Ensure all necessary payroll entries are recorded to the general ledger. Troubleshoots issues and communicates with employees and management as needed. Responsible for ensuring our internal payroll systems are in sync with our regulatory systems and Federal & State laws. Runs payroll reports for management, finance and HR.
Responsibilities:
· Check and audit timekeeping records for compliance with established standards and policies. Contacts managers and employees to ensure errors and misses are fixed ahead of the weekly payroll deadline.
· Maintains time and attendance records.
· Review and post weekly payroll information by reconciling payroll data from the HRIS payroll system.
· Performs Certified Payroll for Federal Davis-Bacon jobs.
· Calculates and issues weekly and monthly HR metrics and statistics such as overtime, vehicle program data, headcount, demographics, etc.
· Ensures accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions.
· Prepare reports on employee pay, bonuses, PTO, disability, workers compensation, 401K, and taxes/withholdings, etc.
· Responsible for balancing payroll runs, reconciling payroll and liabilities, answering employee and manager questions/troubleshooting issues.
· Ensure proper governmental reporting and compliance.
· Resolve payroll-related escalated issues that require coordination with other departments.
· Demonstrates understanding of payroll tax requirements and certified payroll for construction projects.
· Demonstrates understanding of mathematics and basic accounting principles
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Certifications:
· Associates degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
· CPP or related certification a plus
Experience:
- 5+ years of payroll experience.
- Experience with payroll in the construction or manufacturing industry.
- Highly detailed and accurate with excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; expresses thoughts and ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing; establishes trust and confidence quickly.
- Familiar with rules and regulations associated with Federal Wage & Hour Laws and in Southeastern states.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel). Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
- Knowledge of SAGE, Paycom, ADP or similar payroll platform
