Major Responsibilities: Performs with exceptional proficiency all assembly processes for millimeter and microwave frequency solder surface mount components.

Location: Reno, NV

Qualifications

  • Ability to discern quality differences in parts and materials used in production
  • Experience building cables and wiring harnesses to interconnect chassis components
  • Ability to follow technical instructions, interpret engineering blueprints and technical terms
  • Creating and updating assembly instructions, updating Bills Of Materials as needed with Engineering support
  • Pro-active approach to problems and opportunities to improve processes
  • Ability to work both independently and in a cohesive team environment
  • Desire to contribute to the improvement of production workflows and procedures that improve production efficiency and quality without compromising safety
  • Ability to communicate regularly with Engineering and Management regarding problems or issues impacting assembly

Preferred skills:

  • Basic computer skills such as emailing, record keeping, ordering, inventory management and form filing.
  • Practical knowledge of electronics circuit assembly techniques and practices, including soldering, circuit modification and hot air rework of BGAs and QFNs
  • Familiarity with PCB technology and electronics manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of RF systems and components and assembly practices.
  • Experience of populating printed circuit boards.
  • Experience in soldering and rework methods to IPC standards.
  • Understanding of PCBs / surface mount technology.
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOM)

The Assembly Technician will be responsible for PCB Assembly and Soldering to IPC standards, Inspection of products and reworking as required

As an addition, they will be responsible for lab equipment maintenance, maintaining ESD requirements and general lab support

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 5+ years applicable work experience required
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination
  • Minimal supervision required

Physical Requirements:

  • Assemblers are required to remain stationary (sitting or standing) for long periods of time and use hands to handle objects, delicate instruments, and/or controls.
  • Assemblers may occasionally be required to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Assemblers must have good vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust eye focus to work with a microscope up to 12 hours per day.

Work Environment:

  • The manufacturing assembly and test area has equipment with high heat, electricity, and sharp tools.
  • Individuals may be required to handle hazardous materials.

Typical Duties:

Soldering and reworking circuit boards that use surface mount technology , to include but not limited to 0201 chip resistors, QFN and BGA integrated circuits (ICs)

Inspects components to ensure they meet Quality Assurance (QA) standards and product specifications.

Ensures Top Level product specifications are accurate

Reviews circuit level component specs. and parts lists when new orders are received

Typically identifies problems restricting manufacturing throughput and recommends solutions

May analyze RMA’s and recommend corrective actions as required
