We promote hope and empowerment to persons and families touched by mental illness, substance abuse, HIV and multiple occurring diagnoses, and their related challenges.
BCCS believes that the Peer Recovery Specialist plays a crucial role in the recovery process as individuals attempt to navigate the behavioral health system. The PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST will assist in this process by supporting and assisting clients through the program. The peer will assist clients in gaining entitlements and accessing resources within the community. The Peer Recovery Specialist will provide guidance and assist clients in overcoming barriers and challenges in their recovery journey. PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST will act as case managers and will assist clients in obtaining resources such as food, vouchers, housing, linkage to employment services, child care, and social services. The Peer will facilitate psycho-education groups, provide crisis intervention and connect individuals to community resource services.
The Peer will educate and empower individuals by assisting them in developing a strong, stable recovery support system. The Peer will do this by assisting individuals with self-care and self-awareness, encouragement and support, teaching coping skills and teaching the positive benefits of long term recovery. The Peer Specialist is responsible for providing quality, sufficient and appropriate services and for maintaining high professional standards.
Qualifications:
- Must be over 18 years old of age
- REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED
- REQUIRED: 2 years experience in the drug and alcohol field; (Can be lived experience)
Certification/Licensure Information
- Peer certification (CPRS) (must obtain within a year from hire)
Hours:
- Monday-Friday 7am-3pm
Other Qualifications:
Valid driver's license and excellent driving record.
