What you will be doing:

  • Develop policies and procedures for use and operation of the technical aspects of the Performing Arts Center, including stage lighting, sound systems, curtain systems and video.
  • Operate stage lighting, sound systems and other technical aspects of the facility during use by user groups without adequate technical capabilities or training.
  • Maintain and repair all technical systems, including stage lighting, sound, video and curtain systems.
  • Maintain a safe environment and ensuring that all users follow established industry standards for operations. Ensures all user groups can safely operate theater technical systems.
  • Purchase materials, supplies and services required for overall operation. Prepare specifications and assists with capital acquisition projects.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, schedule and evaluate part-time staff, including technical system operators, stagehands, and technicians.
  • Maintain regular records, compiles information on usage and conditions, participation levels and other reports as required.
  • Serve as facility manager in the absence of the PAC General Manager.

Our Ideal Candidate has:

  • In depth knowledge of equipment and procedures involved in operating a theater facility's technical components including stage lighting, sound system, and rigging.
  • Knowledge of organization and resources within the performing arts community.
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff, community groups, facility users, city officials and the general public.
  • Knowledge of CAD-VectorWorks computer software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Is or is willing to become an ETCP Certified Technician
