POSITION TITLE: Personal Finance Literacy – Summer School Teacher
LOCATION: Newtown High School
START DATE: July 3, 2023
SALARY RANGE: $50/Hour or teacher per diem, whichever is greater. $50/Hour for non-district staff.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Connecticut (7-12) Teaching Certification required. Business Education certification required.
  • Solid understanding of the PFL curriculum. Knowledge of the Newtown District Business Program curriculum
preferred.
  • Prior experience teaching Personal Finance Literacy at the high school level required.
  • High regard for confidentiality.
  • Effective classroom management skills required.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide an abbreviated program for students, while covering the major points in the school year curriculum. A
curriculum base will be provided.
  • The ability to equally support diverse learners.
  • Design and implement lesson plans, activities and a final project during the course of the 60 hour program.
  • Ensure students complete the required hours, assignments, participate in the classroom, and complete the
coursework.
  • Provide a written, “Gradebook,” at the end of the course, where you will evaluate the student’s work and assess
a final grade, as well as provide a description of how the final grade was calculated.
  • Commitment to the following schedule: July 3, 2023 through July 28, 2023, July 4 is a non-paid Holiday. The
program is Monday – Friday. Planned time off during the program is strongly discouraged.
  • Program hours on the above referenced dates are 8 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. An additional, half-hour (0.5) is
compensated daily on program days, to allot for planning.
  • Perform your duties and responsibilities, as described in the district’s Teacher Job Description.
  • Maintain the districts expected code of conduct and ethics.
  • Provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for all learners.
  • Other activities as assigned by the Site Administrator and or Director of Continuing Education.
  • This program is dependent on enrollment.
