Knowledge Services is actively seeking a full time Pharmacy Technician in New Hyde Park, NY for a 6 week contract with a possibility of extension.
Pay Rate: $19 - $22 per hour
Monday - Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
The pharmacy technician will assist pharmacists, technician leads, supervisors, and managers in daily workflow to dispense specialty prescription medications to patients or providers and other pharmacy related functions. They will ensure all assigned tasks are completed daily.
- Practices first call resolution to help health care providers and patients with their pharmacy needs, answering questions and requests
- Communicates with patients and physician office staff to resolve issues, coordinate medication deliveries, collect co-payments, answer questions, triage calls to appropriate departments as needed. Inbound calls should be handled using first call resolution customer service practices.
- Creates patient profiles and processes orders in a timely manner from electronic prescription and fax queues, requests refill prescriptions as appropriate, manages incoming documents from the fax server.
- Generates and types prescriptions from orders for pharmacist verification, follows up on outbound prescription transfers, and clarifies patient demographic and clinical information needed to process prescriptions.
- Prepare and count medications for pharmacist verification, maintain pharmacy inventory, including anticipating and ordering needed medications and supplies and processing outdated medications for returns, packaging and organizing daily Rx orders.
- Performs activities related to the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal laws and REMS programs.
- Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and compliance with professional practice and patient confidentiality laws.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed and other duties as assigned.
- Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, its policies and procedures, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.
- Must pass a 15 Panel Drug Screen and a 7 Year County/Federal Background Check
- High School Diploma or GED
- Licensed/registered pharmacy technician or as required by state law with 1+ years pharmacy experience
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology including sig codes, and Roman numerals, brand/generic names of medication
- Basic math and analytical skills
- Intermediate typing/keyboarding skills
- Independent worker with good interpersonal skills
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) with 3+ years specialty pharmacy experience preferred
