Job description
The Pediatric Heart Center, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Faculty Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist committed to excellent inpatient care, the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, and interested in fostering the academic missions of the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine division.
The Pediatric Heart Center has been providing care to children and adults in San Antonio and South Texas for over 30 years and is the only academic Heart Center in San Antonio serving Bexar County as well as South and West Texas with a catchment area of over 6 million people. San Antonio is one of the fastest growing cities in the US and is a family-friendly city with picturesque neighborhoods, affordable housing, and local attractions including the Alamo, River Walk, Sea World, and a vibrant food scene.
The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine division is comprised of 12 intensivists, 5 fellows, and 9 advanced practice providers and has a strong and collegial relationship with pediatric cardiology, pediatric cardiac anesthesiology, and cardiothoracic surgery. The team also works closely with other multiple, excellent medical and surgical services. The critical cardiac care division supports the congenital heart, solid organ transplant, and trauma programs, as well as serving as a major provider of medical critical care to the population of South Texas. We have a committed cardiac critical care team, a congenital cardiac unit, and a growing pediatric transport program. There is growth potential with the building of a new Women's and Children's Hospital scheduled to open in 2023. Critical Care faculty appointments will be engaged in the training of medical students, 35 pediatric residents, and fellows from five pediatric fellowships including neonatology and critical care.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Candidates are BC/BE in pediatric critical care with additional cardiac training; or are BC/BE in pediatric cardiology with additional critical care training.
- Meet the requirement for medical licensure to practice in the State of Texas.
