SUMMARY:
Physical Security Technician performs installation, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a wide range of physical security equipment for our federal government client. The successful candidate will ensure physical access control and monitoring devices function at their optimal capacity, troubleshoot and resolve faults, analyze root causes and take proactive measures to reduce the likelihood and impact of equipment malfunctions.
We seek an experienced Electronic Technician with mandatory experience in CCTV, Access Control and IDS Systems. The ideal candidate will work closely with other members of the company's service team and directly with clients to design, install, maintain, and/or repair integrated electronic security systems. This position will provide preventive service and technical support at project sites and report directly to the Project Manager.
PAY: Estimated Starting Salary Range: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PHYSCIAL SECURITY TECHNICIAN:
Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain physical security equipment to include CCTV, ACS and IDS systems at U.S. Government facilities.
- Perform root cause analysis and make recommendations for continuous improvement to customers.
- Troubleshoot equipment connections. Trace cable and fiber connections from devices to monitoring stations.
- Review monitoring reports to determine system status. Make repairs as necessary.
- Perform periodic preventive maintenance to ensure any issues are detected early and resolved before the equipment fails.
- This position will report to one primary location and required to support multiple locations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF PHYSCIAL SECURITY TECHNICIAN:
- Associates Degree from a two-year college or technical school or two years (60 credit hours) of coursework from a four-year college or university
- Three (3) years of relevant experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
- Eight (8) or more years of demonstrated relevant experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF PHYSCIAL SECURITY TECHNICIAN:
- Skilled in electronic and electrical troubleshooting, device testing and installation of various electronic security platforms, to include experience with monitoring systems software.
- Proven knowledge and skills in the basics of circuitry and electronics, basic wiring connections, fiber optic cabling and connections, CCTV, CAT5 & CAT3 cabling runs and troubleshooting.
- Experience in the installation, maintenance, upgrading, and support of a variety of systems such as access control hardware/software, Electronic Security Systems and CCTV hardware/software
- Must be able to perform inspection of work and know the status of all work.
- Formal training in basics of electronics and circuitry either in a technical school or certifications received during training classes from industry vendors
- Certification as an installer of equipment such as Pelco, Identiv/Hirsch, American Dynamics, Bosch, Honeywell, Milestone, Axis, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings, and technical descriptions.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, Internet, and inventory management software.

- Mandatory CCTV, ACCESS CONTROL and IDS experience
- Ability to successfully pass a federal background check and a drug screen.
- Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT OF PHYSCIAL SECURITY TECHNICIAN:
Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting.
