  • Shift: 4 days per week, 10 hour shift including Saturday.
Job Summary
Under close supervision, delivers safe and competent physical therapy as delegated by a physical therapist. Follows the treatment plan designed by the physical therapist. Implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of physical therapy. Coordinates care of patients in collaboration with healthcare professionals, family and caregiver. Utilizes experience and education to provide support for program development, performance improvement, and student /workforce education. Assists in the safe, efficient and high-quality operation of Rehabilitation Services.

Essential Functions:
  • Patient Care
    Assists Physical Therapists in performing rehabilitative treatment procedures and techniques. Monitors patient's response to treatment is closely monitored and assessed. Assist patients to dress, undress, or put on and remove supportive devices, such as braces, splints, or slings. Recommended changes and upgrades are communicated to the primary therapist.
  • Pre Treatment
    Collaborates with appropriate parties to coordinate patient treatment authorization. Receives authorization prior to treatment and treatment will commence as outlined by the insurance carrier.
  • Documentation
    Complete patient care documentation recording the prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart. Update medical records according to prescribed departmental standards. Complete appropriate data bases, problem lists, treatment goals and individualized plan of care. Completes patient charges per department guidelines.
  • Discharge
    Discharges patient from physical therapy, provide home-care instructions, provide referrals
  • Equipment Maintenance
    Monitor operation of equipment and record use of equipment and administration of treatment.
  • Education
    Assists in orientating and training new employees, PT-student, hospital staff, and precepts new employees during orientation. Trains and educates patients, family members and care-givers in therapy principles, methods and techniques in order to achieve intended outcomes.

Education:
  • Associate Degree form Physical Therapy Assistant Program Required.

Work Experience:
  • Previous experience in out-patient clinic preferred
Licenses:
  • Physical Therapy Assistant license in the State of Colorado; Out of state
  • Physical Therapist Assistant certification or licensure recommended.

  • Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Problem solving - the ability to systematically analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions and devise appropriate courses of action.
  • Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Knowledge of theory, principles and practice of physical therapy.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Knowledge of safety principles in patient care environment.
  • Knowledge of standards, polices and procedures of Denver Health as they pertain to physical therapy.
  • Ability to integrate requirements of the facility and/or regulatory agencies into clinical decisions and documentation.
