Job description
The available position involves direct patient contact in both an inpatient and an outpatient setting. The inpatient service includes acute care therapy with both adult and pediatric populations. The outpatient service includes mostly adult patients, with some pediatric patients as well. The position is approximately 50% inpatient and 50% outpatient exposure.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing your own caseload of assigned patients. The treatments may involve ROM, therapeutic exercise, ambulation programs, percussion and vibration (CPT) in postural drainage positions; all within APTA Guidelines.
- Assisting Physical and Occupational Therapists with selected patient treatments on adult and pediatric wards.
- Facilitation of departmental maintenance through inventory, stocking equipment closets, organization of department, and upkeep of outpatient gym. Some coverage of the outpatient office, as well as performing other tasks as assigned.
- Every co-op student has an immediate supervisor for ongoing feedback and guidance in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Qualifications
The candidate must be a cooperative student at Northeastern University, and have a strong interest in physical therapy. The ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualities: good organizational skills, ability to multi-task, independent and efficient time-management skills, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to take initiative.
