Physician’s Assistant or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner

We are currently hiring a Physician Assistant or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner for Ophthalmology, specializing in Oculoplastic and Glaucoma Services, based in our West Des Moines Clinic. In this role you will work side by side with physicians to provide our patients with clinical and surgical services.

Duties and Responsibilities:*

• Perform examinations
• Obtain patient histories
• Conduct patient assessments
• Order tests or scans
• Diagnose illnesses
• Prescribe medicine and monitor course of treatment
• Educate patient on treatment plans and medication options within the scope of practice and directed by the supervising physician
• Assist in surgical procedures - first assist in the operating room
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
• Travel to other offices as needed
• Participate in the provider on-call rotation

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited program.
• Current license from the State of Iowa.
• Surgical interest required
• Demonstrate a high level of professional competency including leadership and collaboration skills
• Demonstrate attentive interpersonal and communication skills with patients and physicians
• Empathetic with patient’s needs and concerns.
• Ability to work independently under the supervising physician
