Ajax Paving Industries Quality Control of Florida, LLC Technician – Lab
(Non-Exempt)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Quality Control Technician has the responsibility for the quality control testing on projects as required by specifications. We require that they be committed to the total Ajax team effort by co ntributing to the proper completion of the work as directed by the Asphalt Plant Manager.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Quality Control Technician directly reports to and is accountable to the Asphalt Plant Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
A. EDUCATION
Required: Graduation from high school and 2 years’ experience in materials quality control.
B. CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
Asphalt Plant Level 1 and 2.
C. SKILL, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
To have the ability to be well organized and accurate
Self-motivated with good communications skills
Computer use: Excel and Word.
D. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The essential functions of this position includes sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, twisting, trunk movements, lifting minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, low level work, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.
E. TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS
Requires knowledge of general mathematics, reading, writing, and the ability to orally communicate on technical and business topics in English.
F. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Field environment, asphalt lay down operations, manufacturing plants and the labs.
Work is exposed to outdoor conditions, noise and heat.
G. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. In accordance with the specifications on those projects requiring testing, conduct all required lab testing.
2. Complete all reports for the required testing.
3. Maintain the company’s quality goal.
4. Review mix designs from the lab.
5. Check the laboratory facilities for proper maintenance and safety procedures.
6. Review laboratory reports; insuring they are accurately maintained and completed in a timely manner.
7. Help our managers maintain operations training and cross-training programs.
8. Follow safety and OSHA rules and all hazardous materials rules and regulations.
9. Recommend required purchases to the Asphalt Plant Manager
10. Review operations records and work plans daily to insure proper information is supplied on a timely basis.
11. Prepare reports requested by the Asphalt Plant Operations Managers and Quality Control
Manager accurately and in a timely manner.
12. Keep the Asphalt Plant Manager and Quality Control Manager informed of all problems, potential and actual that can affect the operation.
13. Assist managers in training as directed.

H. AUTHORITY
The Quality Control Technician is granted sufficient authority by the Quality Control Manager to accomplish all the responsibilities that are established for this position to include, but not limited to, the following:
1. Establish with the Quality Control Manager and enforce all productivity standards.
2. Insure all quality standards are met.
3. Insure adherence to all safety and environmental rules and regulations.

Attendance and Reliability
- Not abusing or taking advantage of personal days off.
- Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence.
- Reporting to work on time each day, after lunch and breaks, not leaving early.
- Maintaining work area in neat and orderly manner.
- Assuming responsibility for staying aware of changes in company policies and procedures.
- Maintaining a well groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position and situation.
- Performing such other duties as may be required.
