As our Plant Mechanic you will provide maintenance services and inspects, diagnoses and repairs on a variety of conveyors, shakers, screens, electrical motors, and equipment. You will support all aspects of the mechanical repair and maintenance of the facilities and equipment. You will report to the local plant manager.

Responsibilities

  • To perform this job successfully you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
  • Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of mechanical systems (conveyors, bearings, pulleys), electrical systems and equipment not limited to (forklifts, scissor lifts, trucks and heavy equipment).
  • Welding
  • Works under limited supervision and selects from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company / OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts.
  • Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Conducts annual safety checks on vehicles.
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Assist other mechanics in the completion of project work.
  • Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
  • Overtime may be necessary during peak periods. Must be able to work a varied schedule or travel based on need.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • Welding knowledge.
  • A GED or high school diploma is required.
  • Must be 21 years of age, or older.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen, background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal history and motor vehicle record review.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

  • Heavy lifting: exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, and 75lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Subject to both internal and external environmental conditions: work occurs inside and outside. Outside work may be in extreme weather conditions.
  • Subject to: standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching for sustained periods of time.
  • Subject to noise: there is sufficient noise to require shouting in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • Subject to hazards: includes a variety of physical working conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to chemicals.
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions: one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists and gases.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operate machines and motor vehicles.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eye.
