Summary
The Plant Operator will monitor all aspects of the operation through use of control systems. This person will maintain and operate machines and equipment and maintain product workflow records that will maximize safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Observe and report deviations from standard practice or production parameters.
- Perform product transfers to and from steep, germination, and kiln.
- Perform all required plant sanitation activities.
- Daily inspection and analyzation of malt. Monitor the malting and roasting processes and make operational changes to ensure malt meets customer specifications.
- Use individual senses (sight, sound, smell, and touch) to inspect in-process material.
- Manage bagging system and inventory in warehouse.
- Participate in mandatory health/safety/company trainings.
- Communicate job knowledge and process changes with team members, department crew and management through various forms of daily communication (daily production meetings, email, shift handover meeting, action logs, work orders, etc.).
- Responsible for following all plant policies, safety policies and procedures (risk assessments, confined space permits, etc.).
- Other facility duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Availability to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts and 8-12 hour rotating shifts if required.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, shovel grain, and use high pressure wash hoses.
- Ability to regularly lift/push/pull objects 50+ pounds.
- Willingness to work inside of confined spaces, dusty environments, or hot/cold areas.
- Ability to routinely work around grain, dust, chaff, process water, and chlorine without allergies or aversions to these materials.
- Ability to work as a collaborative team member, but also operates independently for extended periods.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Forklift permit preferred.
- Production/food processing experience recommended.
