Position summary:

The Plant Tissue Culture Technician under the supervision of Plant Tissue Culture Manager will work in a high throughput laboratory for production of tissue culture plantlets.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Follow laboratory guidelines, protocols, and procedures.
• Work as a team to produce the required number of quality plantlets as per the production targets given by the manager.
• Prepare various types of plant tissue culture media as per the instructions and SOP.
• Maintain clean, organized, and a professional lab.
• Other duties as assigned.

Desired Key Qualifications:

• High School, GED diploma or two-year associate degree
• Experience with plant tissue culture or in laboratory settings preferred
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with both hands with manual dexterity.
• Strong attention to detail and record keeping skills with ability to work under strict timelines
• Ability to work 40 hours/week on a regular schedule (8 hours/day)
• Ability to work overtime as required (including weekends and holidays)

Physical Demands: Required for job

• Sit for extended periods
• Wear PPE (facemask, scrubs, lab coat, head cover etc.) during the work period
• Use hands and fingers, handle, and feel
• Specific vision abilities, include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Hazards: Required for the job

• Exposed to laboratory conditions
• Housekeeping and/or cleaning agents
• Exposed to fumes or airborne particles
• Toxic or hazardous chemicals
• High mechanical sound level
• Proper and safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances, and other hazardous wastes

* Must be 21 years old and able to pass a level 2 background screening and drug test.
