Astral Molding & Finishing is looking for a hands-on plastic injection Molding Technician/Process Engineer. The qualified candidate will provide support and technical knowledge and skills to our growing company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on processing in plastic injection molding along with start-up/shut-down of equipment
- Ability to changeover molds, material and processes
- Troubleshoot molding processes, mold, machine and/or material to obtain optimal process parameters
- Ensure cycle times, yield, part quality, and deliverables meet or exceed company strategies including support to reduce overall production costs
- Implement continuous process improvement and root cause analysis to optimize processes
- Establish optimal equipment set-up and operating procedures
- Assist molding manufacturing in trouble shooting molding processes, mold, machine and material to obtain optimal processing parameters
Experience and Qualifications:
- Secondary education in plastic technology or equivalent
- 3-5 years hands-on processing experience various plastics injection molding machines (tonnage and age)
- Thorough molding experience with polycarbonate and ABS and most other thermoplastic engineered resins
- Working knowledge of and experience in industrial statistics & design of experiments
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in addition to computer skills
- Excellent organization skills, high attention to detail, be adaptable to various responsibilities, and ability to multi-task
- Demonstrated success in handling multiple priorities and working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience molding clear lenses
- Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem solving solutions through the use of DOE, 8-D and Six Sigma disciplines/methodologies
- Knowledge and working understanding of tool construction, preventative maintenance and/or repair recommendations
