Job description
We are seeking an experienced PLC Tech/Electrician at our sawmill located outside of Thomasville, GA. Working in collaboration with the Industrial Millwrights, this is a hands-on position that diagnoses and repairs electrical and/or PLC related equipment issues throughout the mill site (Sawmill, Planer Mill & Drying).
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years hands on PLC experience in an industrial environment which includes:
- Interfacing with and troubleshooting PLCs including: connecting to the PLC, reading ladder logic, programming & diagnosing hardware/software problems.
- Experience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix using RRSlogix 5000 and StudioLogix 5000 & Allen Bradley Factory Talk applications a plus.
- Effectively maintaining programming, hardware networking and communication, troubleshoot, determine causes and failure and perform corrective actions
- Diagnosing, repairing and/or replacing electrical components of machines including but not limited to motors, relays, overloads, cables, switches, sensor and variable speed drives
- Ability to interface with variable frequency drives, servo drives, AC/DC motors, proximity switches, photo eyes, level controls, weight control/load cells, and calibration and vision systems
- 2+ years general Industrial Electrician experience including:
- Troubleshooting and maintaining three (3) phase electrical systems
- Diagnosing causes of electrical malfunctions or failures of operational equipment
- Troubleshooting and repair of motor control devices, switch panels, transformers and other electrical equipment and components.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications and manuals
- To be periodically called in to diagnose and fix electrical/PLC issues on the night shift, weekend and holidays.
- The ability to meet the physically aspects of the job such as:
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching and grasping
- Periodic bending and/or squatting
- Frequent lifting and moving light objects (2-5 lbs.)
- Occasional lifting and moving objects weigh 6 – 15 pounds
- Periodic walking up and down stairs
- Periodic climbing into equipment
- Will occasionally work on equipment/issue that is high off the ground and requires the use to fall protection
Based on the hourly pay rate and hours worked, people in this job typically earn $90,000+/year. Metcalfe is located 10 minutes south of Thomasville, GA (southwest GA, just north of Tallahassee, FL).
