Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include two plywood and four lumber manufacturing plants, and fifteen specialty wood product distribution operations, located in fourteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States.

We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Electrician at our sawmill located in Bogalusa, LA. You will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical and electronic issues at the mill site. This is a hands-on position and majority of time will be spent on the production floor interacting with the Maintenance/Electrical team, production Supervisors and general production team members to help solve issues that are affecting production.

To be considered for this position, you must have at least 2+ years experience as an Electrician and with PLCs in an industrial production environment with the proven ability to:

  • Interface with and troubleshoot PLCs including: connecting to the PLC, reading ladder logic, programming, diagnosing hardware/software problems. Experience with Allen Bradley PLC 5; Allen Bradley ControlLogix using RRSlogix 5000 and StudioLogix 5000; and Allen Bradley Factory Talk applications a plus.
  • Effectively maintain programming, hardware networking and communication, troubleshoot, determine causes and failure and perform corrective actions; oversee full industrial control system project implementation on both hardware and software
  • Diagnose, repair and/or replace electrical components of machines including but not limited to motors, relays, overloads, cables, switches, sensor and variable speed drives..
  • Interface with variable frequency drives, servo drives, AC/DC motors, proximity switches, photo eyes, level controls, weight control/load cells, and calibration and vision systems

A sawmill environment will require you to: walk and/or climb steps to get from one location to another; work in/around sawdust/bark; work inside equipment, sometimes at great heights; and work in a non-climate controlled setting

This is a night shift opening with hours between 3pm – 2:30am. Some Saturdays and or Sundays are required. This is an hourly position and actual pay rate will be determined by a written and hands-on skills assessment.
