Position Title

Post-Doctoral Fellow - Humanitarian Engineering and Science

The Opportunity

A Post-Doctoral Researcher position is available beginning July 2023 to support the Humanitarian Engineering and Science Interdisciplinary Graduate Program (HES IGP) at the Colorado School of Mines (Mines) to support online program development and HES marketing. The selected candidate would work under the direction of the HES Director. The position is for 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Review the existing HES online portfolio relative to market needs and suggest changes in content and program options (e.g., CEU versus certificate versus full MS, etc.)
  • Develop new online content as appropriate and informed by Task 1
  • Teach one-two online courses for the HES program
  • Engage marketing and recruiting for HES residential and online offerings
  • Coordinate Mines Peace Corps Prep program

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in an HES-relevant field (e.g., engineering, with HES-related experience or education, or social sciences, with HES-related experience or engineering)
  • Ability to deliver one or more of the HES courses
  • Experience in working with development international organizations and NGOs and in mentoring students in understanding these organizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing and teaching online courses related to HES
  • Direct experience in international humanitarian engineering efforts, including knowledge of USAID, Peace Corp, United Nations, World Bank or other NGO activities related to HE
  • On-the-ground experience with community development and community engagement, domestic or international
  • Knowledge of the Peace Corp Prep program, how it works, and how students can make use of it to be placed as PC volunteers

Pay Range

$65,000.00

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
