his position seeks to advance clinical, basic science, and translational research with regard to gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal cancer and HPV-associated cancers. Experimentation and analyses of preclinical models and patient-based samples will be performed as novel applications for the treatment of micrometastatic cancer.

A successful candidate will be well positioned for advancing and developing the scientific understanding in these settings, with the translation of these findings as justification and rationale towards furthering patient-based care at our institution, and with the following expectations:

• Assists principal investigator with clinical, translational, and basic scientific research projects.

• Functions in a separate and independent manner in the design and initiation of research experiments.

• Designs, develops or adapts equipment used in experiments or research to obtain desired results.

• Determines specific goals or objectives to be obtained, evaluates research data, and develops and revises techniques or approaches to work problems.

• Interfaces with the electronic medical record and databases of patient samples and relevant molecular data.

• Plans training and research work activity for assigned laboratory and research personnel.

• Supervises the use of laboratory equipment and implements safety procedures.

• Compiles, writes and submits project results for publications.

• Writes grant applications independently and assists the principal investigator with grant applications relevant to the scope of work for these projects.

• Collaborates with both experimental and computational members of the lab.

• Independently proposes innovative solutions to research projects and contributes to project goals through computational analysis; willing and able to learn and adapt existing bioinformatics tools for application to his/her research projects

• Interprets, presents, and reports research findings at internal meetings and potentially external scientific conferences.
