Preserving Housing Case Manager

Currently, Catholic Charities Community Services seeks a bright and highly motivated individual to work as a Case Manager in our Preserving Housing program located in Manhattan and the Bronx. The Case manager provides direct case management services through diversion, eviction prevention and aftercare to clients who are most at risk of entry and re-entry into the NYC shelter system. Services are provided through advocacy, information and referral, crisis intervention services, and short-term case management.
Responsibilities include:
- Interviewing clients, evaluating eligibility for assistance and developing service plans.
- Providing information and referrals to address identified needs and maintaining accurate documentation of services provided.
- Assessing clients for government benefits and outside services.
- Accessing both public and private eviction prevention funds.
- Writing case notes while monitoring current and former clients.
- Conducting individual and group budget counseling.
- Attending in-house and outside trainings.
- Cultivating community relations that further the interest of the agency.
- Assisting with special projects and other job duties as needed.
Training and supervision will be provided. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday-Friday. Additional hours may be required to meet program deadlines or client needs.
Successful candidates will have at least two years-experience working with the public in an office setting, strong organization and critical thinking skills, plus excellent communication skills (verbal and written). A bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred, but candidates with commensurate experience may be considered. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and the internet is required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Pay: $40,200.00 - $44,500.00 per year

COVID-19 considerations:
COVID-19 Adjustment: Position will be on-boarded virtually. Potential to orient to the physical office space in person depending on CDC and agency requirements at the time of onboarding. Updates to protocol are implemented on a regular basis.
